The Cost of Doing Nothing

It can be tempting to live with a sunken driveway slab or uneven patio. You change your routine. You remember to watch out for those trip hazards. You get used to the unsightly nature of the problem. But even if you do accept these issues, they can cost you serious money when it comes time to sell your home. Depending on the issue, concrete problems can force you to discount your home by 5 percent or more at sale time. For a $300,000 home that’s $15,000. For a $750,000 home, that’s $37,500! As you can see, the cost of repair often pales when compared to the cost of doing nothing.

One other thing: Because concrete problems don’t get better with time, they’ll never be less expensive to fix today.

How PolyLevel® Concrete Lifting Works

The causes of uneven concrete are the same for most walkways, driveways and slabs. As soil underneath a concrete slab shrinks, settles or washes away, this leaves empty space (or voids). Because the soil is no longer supporting the slab, this causes the concrete to sink.

PolyLevel uses a high-density polyurethane foam to fill voids and stabilize and lift sinking concrete slabs. The expanding properties of the two-part urethane formula allows for accurate leveling of the slab. The result is a waterproof repair that's much more permanent than mud jacking and other common concrete repair methods.

PolyLevel Step 1

Step 1: Small 5/8" holes are strategically drilled in the slab.

PolyLevel Step 2

Step 2: Injection ports are installed.

Poly Level Step 3

Step 3: Polyurethane foam is injected beneath the concrete to fill voids and raise the slab.

PolyLevel Step 4

Step 4: Holes and control joints are sealed.

PolyLevel® Concrete Leveling v. Other Concrete Repair Methods

Why We Use PolyLevel® over Mud Jacking

Traditional concrete leveling methods such as mud jacking or slabjacking are messy, require a lot of downtime and often don't provide a long-term fix. PolyLevel® concrete leveling offers many advantages compared to traditional concrete leveling methods; here are a few:

  • Less Cure Time - meaning you’ll be using your driveway, pool deck, or other concrete slab again in no time.
  • Lighter Material Weight - meaning further soil compaction and settlement isn’t a concern, unlike with the heavier concrete slurry used for mudjacking.
  • Smaller Hole Size - meaning the finished product is more attractive and less noticeable.
  • Waterproof - meaning the polyurethane foam isn’t susceptible to washout from heavy rains like the concrete slurry used for mudjacking.

Why We Recommend PolyLevel® Over Slab Replacement

When it comes time to fix a sunken driveway, patio, walkway or pool deck, some people may be tempted to rip the whole thing out and start again. While the idea of brand-new concrete might sound appealing, there are several factors that should be considered

Slab replacement:

  • Can be expensive
  • Is disruptive — concrete slabs can take days or even weeks to cure
  • Involves pouring new concrete over bad soil, which only delays future problems
  • Can leave an unsightly patchwork of old and new concrete

PolyLevel®, on the other hand, is:

  • A lightweight solution that does not further compromise existing soil
  • An environmentally friendly material that will not degrade over time
  • Is waterproof and won’t wash out
  • High capacity, allowing for lifting of heavy loads
  • Cures quickly — concrete can be used in hours, not weeks

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Is PolyLevel® expensive?

How soon can I use my driveway/patio/pool deck/walkway?

PolyLevel® cures very quickly. In fact, you could theoretically drive your car over a driveway slab just 15 minutes after it’s been lifted with PolyLevel®— though we recommend you wait until the next day.
